    "1917", movie trailer

Looks interesting... but, its Hollywood so I'd keep expectations in check.

Agreed that it looks promising, but I watch next to nothing that comes from out of that place, and I never give them my money.

It would be difficult for anything to surpass from the Brit point of view the 2005 "docu-drama " from Channel Four entitled simply "Somme". I have watched that almost as many times as "All Quiet" (1930) and "Stosstrupp 1917". "Somme" is currently still up on "you tube" and I can stream on the big screen.

Personally, I expect to be disappointed. Unfortunately, many WW1 movies fail to show the vastness of the war. I know its difficult to do that when your confined to scenes in a shoulder width trench, but "Paths of Glory" was able to do it, and that was in 1957.

Plus, this seems like a WW1 version of saving private ryan. I'll watch it, but I'm expecting to see saving private ryan with a different flavor, and scenes that make me feel like a war that's happening only within a 1 mile radius. If you havent watched "Paths of Glory" you are seriously missing out.
