    Just another Prussian Military Pass? Not really, check it out !!!

    Gents, I came across this old Prussian Militaer Pass and just wanted to put it away when I saw the date : 1853. So I checked the data and I guess this is a little gem stone. The man was in fact born in 1832 and drafted into the military in 1853. After doing his 2 years he was discharged in 1855. However, this duplicate pass was issued in only 1911 - 56 years after his discharge! The only other entry apart from the basics is, that he was drafted twice due to mobilization in 1859 and 1866. So my guess is that he needed this duplicate pass because he claimed a medal or perhaps to get a higher pension for miliary service.
    Strange anyway, to wait until he was 79 years old!

      Hello Harry;
      I think you are correct. Maybe this reissued MP was from a Pension question and setting the record straight on the number of mobilizations he had. He probably had the MP reissued because the old one was worn and not fully updated. But instead of just making updated remarks in the old tattered one, they issued him a new one and put duplicate one the front cover.

      I have a document group to a gent from the Franco-Prussian and his MP has duplikat written large on the cover. That MP is in pristine condition and looks like after he accepted from the records office he took it home and filed it away.
