    I've taken the plunge and dived into the Bismarck era, here is what I surfaced with

    Hard to tell from your photo, and I am just a novice with 1870 EKIIs, but to me it looks like a painted core, with the bad "8". Obviously a better photo can prove me wrong.

    I am sure the pros will weigh in...

        There's nothing wrong with this cross, early A type with CU frame, Berlin Foundry and a lovely, set of oaks.

                Nice one. CU frame indeed.

                I've seen this circulate the collections of friends for some years. Easy to distinguish Sadly the set it was a part of originaly, was spilt up over the years.
