    Brocade Box??

    I believe this box is for a brocade or sash but what are the words on the bottom?

    2Paar a...stucke??

    I think it says

    2 Paar Achselstücke = (literally) 2 pair of underarm pieces. I'm sure there's a figurative meaning. I just don't know what it is.

    Maybe it refers to an aiguilette which goes over the shoulder and under the arm.

    Can you show the whole box?

      Achselstück is an old word for shoulder board or epaulette.
      aiguilette is Achselschnur

        Thanks to you both for your comments. I have attached a picture of the box.

        I guess the old translation would make sense considering a pair of Shoulder boards came with it.

        I am only used to seeing brocades or sashes in this type of box though. Perhaps they were generic boxes used for uniform accessories.
