Even if crude and worn it's in my opinion a fine multi-piece frame awarded cross.

Thank you. Again, any and all comments would be appreciated. These are not my area of expertise.

Looks like an early issue, with the nice, crude cast core. I like it.

I would add it to my collection without even think twice about it.

It is maybe the way the cross is photographed.....everthing has the same patina.....gray and shiny! I do not about the 8, but this mostly a point with 1870 fakes.

I am not a expert on 1813 crosses. But these things make me doubt, even thougt its an artificial old made cross.

Perhaps photographing the piece in a different way, gives a whole different view of it.

Anyway... it seems to be a good very worn 1813 cross, but that does not really come into its own!

Just my personal opinion on this piece

Here is how a good piece dies: https://www.militaria-fundforum.de/f...08304-ek-1813/

Dumbasses on another forum who don't know what they are talking about have tainted it for all time. It will now always have a cloud hanging over it. Better that it has never existed imo. This is what I hate about collecting.

When the cross returns I will dispose of it.

Also the ribbon makes some people suspicious! I am convinced that is a good 1914 ribbon but some not. See this topic:

Of course that is not the original ribbon but that is the ribbon that came with it. I would have loved to own a piece of original 200 year old ribbon but what is the chance of that? The cross will be disposed of once it returns. It will not bother anyone again.

If it is a fake it has to go.

Agreed. You would be saving someone a hell of a lot of money who might purchase it down the road not knowing its fake.

I hope our resident expert, Trevor, chimes in on this one. Although I'm a member of that forum, I generally ignore what people have to say there, as there are a number of idiots who can't resist pontificating.
