Austrian FJ merit cross in gold, in 18k gold??

    Hi all
    Just find this one today.
Not so sure about the material
The hallmark is just like "*" on the ring
No other visible mark I can see on it.
Is it a 18k gold version?

    Thanks
    Eric

    Hello Eric,
The asterisk type star denotes "unedeles Metall". It is used for awards that are not made in silver or gold, and is commonly seen on bronze awards.
    Kind regards,
    Sandro

Full agreed. This cross is made in gilded bronze.

I agree, it's a beautiful gilt bronze piece, from 1914-1918. Not one of the usual "Kunz" pieces.
