Ludwig III Grosherzog Von Hessen Medal

Hi, new to this forum, so entirely sure if I am posting this in the right section or now, please let me know if I should move it. Looking for any insight, history or information on the Hessen medal shown in these photos. Assuming its from the early to mid 1800s, based on the history of the medallist who crafted it (Christian Schnitzspahn), but thats all I have been able to find out.

Also, this is my first post on here, so if these links are working, can someone let me know so I can figure out the best way to show images in a post.

    Thank you!

You might want to try the Imperial section though this medal almost predates the Impreal era (1870~1918)

All I can tell you about it is 'Mölsheim' is a town in Darmstadt and the medal obverses is the standard late coinage image of Ludwig III.

My guess some sort of school prize or perhape the early verson of the General Honour Decoration German: Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen though the reverse inscription/wreath and ribbon are wrong for that one

There are too many variants of this type of unofficial award to mention, but yours is of high quality, as evidenced by the die-cutter's name and the quality of the strike. I like it.

It doesn't look like a Buergermeister Medaille, didn't they have something more like a Kette?

Thank you, the second link is the exact same medal with a different name on the back. I am really not sure what its worth, does anyone have any ideas?

Second Model (http://woeschler-orden.de/node/4369) is more rare than first Model.
                      Yours is the first Model.

Here is also a first Model, but the condition is bad and the ribbon is missing.

If two guys (Heimatsammler) from Mölsheim are after it, Price could go very high.

That helps a lot, the history on the second link you posted about the medal is what I was missing. I did some other searches but the Hessen era version of this medal is harder to track down information and valuation.

Wondering, if I were looking to sell this medal, does anyone have a suggestion on the best method?
