    Austro-Hungarian Medals

    Hi,

I bought these two medals at a military show today. I believe the are both versions of the Austrian Marian Cross of the German Knight order.

Unfortunately the large one is missing its ribbon. I was not able to find any information about the small one. It is some king of a pin version?

I also couldn't find any visible hallmarks. Do these look genuine?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hello,

it's a fine, "Marian Cross" (Something like a merit cross of the Order) of the Teutonic Order.

The piece looks unmarked, so of the oldest type: the ribbon should be black then.

The other piece, is a large miniature, with unknown purpose.

    Best wishes,

    E.L.

Thank you for your comment Elmar. I believe the ribbon pictured below is the one you are talking about. Unfortunately it came without the ribbon.

Please reach out to me if anyone has one for sale, or has an idea where I could get one from.

      Thanks,

      Mike

This ribbon, could very well fit to your cross, but your piece could also very well be suspended to a full-black, triangular ribbon, that was the first one used for the Marian Cross.

        Best wishes,

        E.L.
