    Question EK 1813

    Hello, fellow collectors!
I do have a question regarding the time frame of the "bent-stem-core" - sometimes referred to as "Blücher-style" because this design was found in his estate. If this would have been his awarded piece, this core design would be an early one. Wernitz dates it to a period as late as "second half of the 19th century", meaning that the Blücher family bought it as an replacement in the later years.
They usually come with a more sophisticated frame (see first picture) than the first examples, so that they are classified (to my knowledge...) as private purchase pieces from appr. 1839 to 1865.

In an german auction house theres one for sale right now with a frame that looks like a massive piece (at least on the pictures).

If this is not an "old school" replacement frame it would give the core a quite early first appearance, casting a different light onto the Blücher story...

What do you think -or what is your opinion/stand of information regarding this topic?

    Thank you for every input!

    Regards
    Hagrid

I thought all his awards had to be replaced after a fire in the mid-late 1800s?

Ok...I didn´t know that (resp. when) this fire took place.
The next question for me would be:

Is the cross below an original at all??

The coarse beading and the crude frame could point into the "cast" direction - if it´s possible to judge it by the pictures. Or is it just poor craftmenship or simple wear?

      What do you think?

      Regards
      Hagrid
