    Ek recognition

It's been a few years sense I posted this one last. I am hoping that
maybe someone can help me identify this one.

As you can see, the reverse hardware will not be of any help. It has holes
drilled in it possibly for mounting on a display board.

I'm bumping this one up again.
Another couple years have passed and still no good idea of the maker.

Very nice and detailed core. The first time I see this type of crown. Also the fact they remove the hardware....I think it would be almost impossible to find a maker.....but time wil learn

I don't think the holes are made for a display board but holes for sew it on the uniform. Maybe the hardware was broken. DonĀ“t forget crosses with needles, worn during the combat actions, quickly got stuck somewhere and got lost.

        Thanks for your input Henk.
The entire core design is unique IMO. We don't see the textured
core very often and the font in the date is different as well.
I keep hoping that I can match the shape of the "4" to other makers
        but so far no luck.

I know very little about EK cores, but aren't textured cores common to Deschler round 3 crosses made in WW2? Maybe look in that direction.

            Thanks Dale.
I have looked at Deschler 1914s. They just don't seem to be a match.

One of the only other ones that I have ever seen is this one posted
on ebay from a couple years ago.-----

                        Hi Greg,

I do not have a similar example. I have examples with stippled cores (I think they are all 1-piece from memory) and examples with very similar crowns and dates (but not the W). I can't help with an exact match sorry.

                        Regards
                        Mike

                          Thanks Mike.
I think Dale was no to something when he suggested Deschler. That is why
I have asked in another thread for people to post examples.

I have two pictures saved in my files that are listed as "TR-era Deschler
straight-9 type". Both have a very similar core. (same style beading and
what especially caught my eye was the ribbed sweat band).
