    Carl Stark and Carl Schuter

A friend of mine from work shared some images of his ancestors. The first is Carl Stark, a veteran of the 1866 War. It looks like Prussian Infantry to me, probably a Private.

The second photo is of Carl Schluter, he was apparently a veteran of the wars of 1866 and 1870. He appears to be in the artillery, I'm not sure of the rank.

I'm much more of a medal collector than a uniform expert. Perhaps someone else can give me some additional information. Carl Schluter bio said he was an officer, I'm honestly not sure looking at the photo.

Your opinions and information shared are appreciated.

          Regards,

          Carl C

If the helmet is his own one, you´re assumption is correct:
No spike but a balled tip = artillery...

In the photo of Carl Schluter the sword knot with the tassel hanging next to the sword is for enlisted ranks, so he's not an officer based on this alone.
