    Unknown Maker's Mark?

    Greetings,

I was wondering if anyone knows what this marking is? Is it a maker's mark or some form of personalization?

    Thank you!

KAG is a well known EK maker. KAG is usually marked on the pin and is written K.A.G. So I have my doubts but I am sure those more knowledgeable on EKs will let you know.

Also a good idea to post a pic of the obverse.

Certainly not an original KAG and not even an original cross.

Thank you to everyone who posted. It's funny the junk that is out there! I found this in the bottom of a junk box and that is where it will stay!

The photos are awful, but there is nothing wrong with that cross, I don't think. Seeing this one in hand would tell me better. A few years ago, on this forum, it was discussed and in fact, I think I was one of the naysayers. After a few more years of collecting and looking, I have to think these are ok. Construction is correct, metal is correct, and the hardware is good. KAG made a few different types of EK's, some being pretty well made and others being poor. I think they used whatever cores and hardware they could get ahold of and during war times, it was sometimes hit and miss.

Sorry but it's a fake. We started seeing these back in 2005.
