Würrtemberg - Gold Military Merit medal

    Hello

Here is the Gold Military Merit Medal - Württemberg, 333 Gold. Awarded to Gefr. Trumpp Friedrich Christian on 12.01.1917. A very rare a desirable Bravery Award from the Kingdom of Württemberg.

Gefr. Trumpp was KIA in June 1918 during a attack on French positions by Friendly Artillery Fire.

Gefr. Trumpp is the soldier pictured on the left.

Also pictured is the Next of Kin cross awarded to his father in 1936 for his KIA Son.

    Enjoy,

      Hi Danson,

Thank you - the medal is stil in excellent condition and apears to be hardly worn.

With only about 4200 awards during WWI a rare medal.

The Soldiersd Soldbuch and some other papers (his diary, etc.) that came along have a clear damage of something that pierced right through it, mayby the shrapnell that caused the deadly wound? He was never wounded before or another time that he was Lucky before.

      Cordial greetings,

                  Hello,

And here is a picture from Ernst Trumpp - reactivated shortly in WWII (1939) and then released.

                  Cordial greetings,

Picture seems to be dated between June and August 1918, because the black stripe on the sleeve might be the mourning of his KIA bro and he has not been awarded the August medal yet

Who awarded his EKI in 1922? The Weimar Republic?

                        Hello,

Indeed => the Black cuff was for worn for the death of his KIA brother (GMVM Holder Friedrich).

The EK1 was awarded as a late award for (late) actions during WW 1. This practice happened quite often.

                        Cordial greetings,
