    Imperial 26th Infantry Division

    Hi all

Ive just bought a Wehrpass to a soldier who was in Gren Rgt 119 which was part of the 26th Inf Div and it shows he took part in the Somme battle from 2/8/16 to 29/8/16. Can anyone tell me where his unit would have been based on the battle field as I cant find anything on the web ?

Just after that the unit took part in the battle of Udine 28/1017 to 3/11/17. Is this in Italy ? Any information on why the unit was there would be good.

    Thanks Darren

Yes Udine in Italy. The German forces were there fighting together with the Austrians against the Italians.

Don´t think so. But it´s not Goethe or Schiller.

Be warned that this translation leaves a lot to be desired. If you are uncertain about just what it means or is trying to say, just ask here.
