Help with Medal Bar - Verdienstmedaille des Sachsens-Ernestinischen Hausordens

Hi all,

I need your help with the following Medal Bar that I have been offered. i have 2 queries, one over one medal and the other one, the price.

So, as you can see, there is a medal missing, and I believe there are 3 options for it:

Sachsen-Altenburg: Verdienstmedaille Silber 1908 - 1918 – (OEK 2517)

Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha: Verdienstmedaille Silber 1904 - 1914 – (OEK 2530)

Sachsen-Meiningen: Verdienstmedaille Silber 1890 -1914 – (OEK 2566).

Apart from that, the price has been set to 165 Euros, including Post. Is this a fair price?

First, as to the price - assuming all the medals are originals (The EK looks a bit funny but that may just be the photo) 165 euro is a price I would not mind paying for it. However as this Bavarian bar is in 1930s configuration it is not really an Imperial medal bar and for that reason I would not buy it.

Now as to the missing medal.

I do not think it is 2530 as the attachment on that medal is different and usually the hook on the medal bar reflects this (being a much broader hook). Hanging 2530 on the hook on your medal bar would result in the medal constantly changing position and hanging crooked most of the time. Besides 2530 is pre WWI while the medals indicated WWI awards.

I also do not think it is 2566 as that medal is too early for the other medals. It could however be 2571.

2517 is possible.
