What do you think about it, does it look good?

I am not too good at old German writing, so help would be received with joy!

I know you guys hate question like these . But I have to ask. So I know if I paid a good price or not. So, the question is: What is it worth?

Oh, almost forgote. The guys name is. Eckardt Steinfatt and was a leutnant.

Well, thanks fore taking time. Cheers.

    Gabriel

Custom? Well, again I have to admit that my German is not what it should be.

This is an EXCEPTIONALLY nice group. I hope that you have the REAL documents for the ones that look like xerox copies?

Eckhardt Fritz Hans Steinfatt (what a BIZARRE name! ) was born 22 December 1896 in Schwerin. Served from 21.3.16 (which is odd, because his local draft board review of 9.8.14 had passed him as fit all around to be a One Year Volunteer) as an Abitur holder, and was commissioned as a Leutnant der Reserve 11.1.18 in the prestigious Garde Grenadier Regiment 4. (Which is VERY odd, since his father Karl was a serving Eisenbahnassistent, or roughly a Lieutenant... presumably an ex-NCO "up from the ranks" and not the sort of "class" OR income one would expect for the Guards! )

Scans (one at a time please, since so many have been posted there is no logical way for us to respond to "11th scan," and so on, all run together) would be better for the documents, which are on the edge of blurred focus my middle aged eyes find difficult to read, but are not difficult in the original. I learned German this way.

EK2 2.5.17, EK1 22.4.18, Black Wound Badge 10. ?. 18 (wounded by artillery shell splinter in the right upper arm, right lower arm, and hand on 2.6.18), Mecklenburg Schwerin Friedrich Franz Cross 2nd 16.3.18 (you have that) and most interesting, from his native state, the "MK1" on the day AFTER the war ended. Since he had been discharged 17.12.18, it took until late January 1919, what with the war lost, the Kaiser gone, Red revolutionaries in the streets and so on, for the Mecklenburg 1st Class award with document to be forwarded on to him at home, 17.1.19. (I like Company Commander Lt dR Furth's jotted "Congrats and howyadoon" down there on the lower left... Official Paperwork much... more casual in those strange times! )

Oberzollsekretär = Leutnant. He was advanced to Zollinspektor (= Oberleutnant) 31.12.24. Bezirk Zollkommissar (7.4.31) was equivalent of a Hauptmann.

If you would like more on the "Everything" that is revealed about him inside the Auszug aus der Kriegsrangliste's two inside pages, please do each page at a higher resolution. It is at "eye strain" blurriness now. I am going back and forth, back and forth, just trying to read small sections at a time.

                            Gabriel,

You have a very nice group - just the sort of thing I crave.

As Chris mentioned above, it is a shame that the EK docs have been lost, but absolutely complete groups are not easy to find.

As a consolation, you can still research all of his military service using the information provided in the war roll extract.

The mimeographed Mecklenburg MVK 1st class document shown in post #3 is unusual and an interesting alternative to the standard printed documents.

                            /David

Thanks Frosch, it's warming. Yeah, it's a really shame that the ek docs is missing.
I mailed the seller 1 week ago, and he hasn't asnwerd yet.
So I guess they are lost.

After all those possetiv comments, I think I made a good deal after all.
