EK 2 with clasp on the bar

WW1 is not my area so I would like to ask for a help with this WW1/WW2 medal bar.There is a Somme schlacht clasp on the ek2 and as far as I know it is connected with the Kyffhauser medal....why is the clasp on the ek2? Or just added later by someone?

Just speculating here. Maybe the soldier received his EK2 during the Somme battle and thought it neat to point that out by adding the shield.

Yes, this is an offcial clasp for Kyffhäuser medal, instituted in late 1928, awarded until 1934. There were 76 offcial clasps (listed in Parole-Buch periodical), but ca. 35 not official clasps are also known.
