    Mecklenburg-Strelitz 2'nd class

Have these two crosses from Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Personally I like the first one but not so sure about the second one, so would like some input, thanks!

    First cross is 41x41x4 mm

    Second one: 42x42x6 mm

    No scale atm.

      You are right.
The first one is a war time piece and made between 1916-1919.

Your second one is different, but looks not so bad. But it is difficult to give you finally an answer regarding good or scrap. In this case it is necessary to have that one in the hands.
For sure, it's not made by an official maker in wartime. Maybe private purchase in the twenties.

      Regards

        Thanks Seeheld.

According to ehrenzeichen-orden.de the cross could be made in "versilberte Bronze" between 1916-18 so I think that's what is showing here on #1.

The problem with the second one for me is the font, the crown etc plus it's a lot thicker.

Please show ring and small ring. The club have multiple variants of this doing the rounds. They are thick...

First is certainly genuine. Second is highly doubtful, but not 100% no u less you have it in hand and under Loupe.

I checked Nimmergut's book for images of this cross and all four pictured featured the crown similar to the one on the 2nd cross posted here. Is that crown on the 1st cross with the bottom in a straight line significant for the 1916-19 type? I've just installed my new scanner and will post a shot of my own cross, once I've figured out how it works.

                cheers

First cross has a non standard crown, I read on a German forum that Godet made the awarded ones, their crown is more similar to the second type. I think the first type is war time but is clearly not a Godet type, to me I think later war type.

As promised, a cross with yet another design of crown.

                    cheers

Original, but perhaps just post war? No proof but educated guess. I will add my two later or tomorrow.

My two, left one marked G, right one marked 80, bad strike I guess. Identical, but number different, different punch used.

                          Reverse of right, then left.
