    1870 Merit cross for women

    On a learning curve here, so forgive my ignorance. I found this while browsing yesterday seeing what sort of things are on offer at the moment and trying to learn about originals vs fakes and makers, etc. Would I be right in thinking this example is usually associated with the "O" stamp?

          Cheers Greg, I stumbled on that last night after posting actually. To my eye this appears to be one of the unknown maker frames (The "second type" that Roglebk mentions). At least judging by the inside of the obverse frame.

            On closerinspection, the frame appears identical to the "Z" marked example shown by Eagle on this page, although the photo has some glare:

            Just curious, was there a final idea of how many makers created these crosses? The other two threads I've seen seem to show some disagreement.

                No, we really don't know who or how many makers there were.
                I have no clue who made mine.
