    1870 EK1 Authentic? - need help

    I came across this 1870 EK1 and the piece looks nice, but the details are too crisp for the age of the medal and the crown looks a bit different from other pieces I have seen. The seller has verified that it is 3 piece and the core is magnetic.

        Do a search for "Latvian fake" . You will find lots of discussion about this

          There is an eBay dealer in the UK who seems to sell dozens of these a year, and buyers keep forking over the big bucks. He also dummies up $20 Feldmuetzen with a razor and poo bath, and manages to fetch $400+ for those atrocities.

            One of the most warned of fakes on the market. If it helps it's "genuine" Eastern European workmanship. But the everything about the obverse is a giveaway. Especially that beading!
