    Strange Lübeck Hanseatic Cross

    Hi guys,

I am posting this for a friend. Has anyone ever seen a Lübeck Hanseatic Cross that looks like this? I have never seen a variation such as this and I really don't know what to make of it. Looks well made and the eagle appears to have been hand-painted. The reverse is plain and it is believed that this cross is struck from genuine silver. Any and all comments and opinions would be appreciated. I will see if I can get a picture of the reverse, but for now this is all I have.

Thanks for looking and best regards,
    Tom

I have never seen an official award like this. I checked and it is not listed in the OEK manual. Perhaps it is a veteran's association piece.

      My two cents.

        Hi Carl,

Thank you for responding. I was wondering that same thing myself.

It's supposedly a veteran piece from the 1920s. Lubeck Kriegerbund Honor Cross. But, these are heavily faked and sold by "the Club". I believe this one is a fake. The enamel appears to be acrylic.

I agree, a fake. I got one from German eBay to examine. There are variations, all from the same seller that periodically sells a bunch of crap mixed in with some good stuff. I will fi d the seller and add their name.

              Hi All,

Lübeck Landeskriegerverband Verdienstkreuz (described in the Nimmergut's book, pos. 156) looks completely different. In form similiar to the Prussian one. The cross is actually listed on eBay.de:

Maybe it's supposed to be like the various state Kriegsteilnehmer Ehren-kreuzen. Admittedly, I've only seen the fakes sold on eBay. So, maybe just a fantasy piece.

                  Probably yes.

By the way: except the Merit Crosses, also Long Memebership badges of Landeskriegerverband Lübeck are known:
