    Another Unknown Medal/Coin

    Dear Members,

    This is an interesting medallion / large thick coin that came in an officers grouping, does anyone have any information as to what this is? It is also marked "900 s" on the reverse, would this indicate that it is silver?

          Interesting commemorative medal, commissioned by Bavarian government in 1916. Inside should contain a small leporello with 30 pictures. Try to uncsrew them Beacuse you have the original box also, probably the medal is complete (with pictures)

          This silver medal was designed by Richard Klein, manufactured by Deschler & Sohn, Munich. Pos. 7001 in Zetzmann catalog

              Yes, this is .900 silver, but empty inside

              Not award, commemorative medal. There were a few hundreds silver commemorative medals issued in Germany during the WW1, mainly for propaganda purposes or to commemorate important commanders, battles etc.
              Medals are described in the catalog by Georg Zetzmann "Deutsche Silbermedaillen des I. Weltkriegs", issued 2002.
