    Hello,

today I got this grey shelter half. Is it a real german 1914-18 or post WW1 one ?

    Ca. 160 x 162 cm

    Thanks in advance!

    Best regards!

Aluminum buttons means....postwar. Imperial era gray ones normally had steel buttons. The early rot/braun examples had aluminum buttons, but of a somewhat different pattern.

Chip Thanks for your reply. Do you have a pictures of a original grey one?
Could it be a swiss shelter "zelteinheit 01" ??
In a german forum some one wrote in an old thread that Germany produced this shelter for the swiss army...

          Hello,

I'm not familiar with the Swiss shelter halves of the period. Aluminum was quickly added to the list of special war metals that were destined for use in higher priority items. Already in 1914, there was issued a recall of aluminum from the field. So, I highly doubt that the Germans were using it to make shelter halves for the Swiss.
