I saw plenty of the iron medallions when I was in Europe, but can't recall ever seeing the pin.

              To quote fellow member "vellocino"......

"A nice American Gold for iron brooch or clasp, these particularly were given out by Herr Henry Mielke along a certificate in a little shop located in Second Ave in New York City during 1914, as a exchange to those Americans of German descent answering to the call of donating gold, precious metals or other valuables that were given for the aid of the German cause.

He led the Deutsche Historische Gesellschaft based in New York.

The clasp or brooch versions are less common than the regular ring.

I have not seen yet an example of the original certificate that went with the ring or clasp."

Ron, really nice items there! There is a number of pins with the Gold for iron motto, if interested I can share them in later day.
I found fascinating the patriotic drive of the people supporting the Gold for Iron program towards their fatherland, willing to donate even personal emotional attached items as wedding rings to aleviate the humane and financial cost of the ongoing war.
Thanks for sharing! I am still searching for that elusive NY certificate.
Here is a small exhibition of "Gold gab ich für eisen" pieces I had the chance to share at my local library last month.
                  Thank you.

I lack your photo skills Ron, but here are some examples.
Second and fourth are American made, sterling silver Chicago.
                      Thank you for your interest.

Some others pins, period photograph showing a young lady wearing proudly her Gold gab ich token mounted as a pendant.
I have found other interesting facts about such tokens/medallions, there are at least another 3 versions besides the one widely known (Maria, Caro & Itzel versions), even one claimed to be produced on bronze.
                        Thank you,
Choose to have a great day!
