The Medal was instituted in 1919 to replace the previous royal version following the abolition of the monarchy at the end of World War I and was awarded to members of the Wurttemberg Fire Service, more than third of whom were part-time volunteers, for 25 years service.
This is the 1925 version which had a suspension loop attached to the top edge.
Sadly the loop is now missing.....
