    EK2 1914 opinions

I recently picked this up at the Ovms show and was wondering what the maker is. From my research I believe that it is an authentic cross but I would like a second opinion. My one concern is that the core has too much play and leaves small gaps on the left or right side of the cross.

    Regards,
    Chris

        It's definitely a good cross.

Cores were shared by many makers, and often did not fit precisely in the maker's frames. This core is especially common -- we call this one of the "generic" cores -- which means that:
        1. the maker will be hard to identify if the ring is not marked, and
        2. the looseness of the core need not concern you.
        Best regards,
        Streptile

Could the cross be produced during WW1 or is it of Third Reich manufacture?

          Regards,

            It's a WW1 award piece.

A nice genuine cross. In a favoured grouping of mine. If not maker marked identification may not always be easy or definitive but from your photos may be possible.
