Was in Paris this past week and had the opportunity to spend a day at Musée de l'Armée - Invalides, where they had a special exhibit, "France-Allemagne 1870-1871. La guerre, la Commune, les mémoires" (France Germany 1870-1871 War, Commune, Memories.) I must say this entire museum was a treat. Could have easily spent a few days taking it all in.
Within the above exhibit was the following interesting award document and 1870 EK2. Would be curious to know the maker of the EK2, what the medal in the middle have been (perhaps it was a photo locket, or some personal item), and any other interesting information. Here are some photos for future reference.
