IMO the Silver Wound Badge is a Private Purchase and is referred to as a "cut out"

The EK1 looks to have a Hansen core IMO, allthough I don't believe the cross id not made by Hansen.
            The EK2 is authentic.

Thanks Scott, otter 76 and Dansson.
Was it sometimes the case that authentic Imperial EKI's had cores and frames by different makers?
              Thanks,
              Peter

Right Dan I was highly in doubt but I would agree Hansen core type is better

                  Very often.

I agree. This makes manufacturer ID often difficult.

Absolutely correct. Looks like another creation of unknown assembler and retailer "We", who heavily bought parts also from Hansen (or his subsidiaries).
The core is Hansen (second type), the frame looks Hansen too, just the reverse hardware (hinge, pin and catch) is completely different from the one seen on Hansen pinbacks.
                      Very interesting cross.

Very abject apology for the lateness of reply, must have missed this somehow!
                        Thanks for the information.

According the book of Wernitz this core, type O, on this EK I is only used by Friedlander Brothers on EK II.
I compared it with a Hansen core but in IMO there is no match. But he.....I could be wrong!

Hansen used 3 different cores. Haven´t Wernitz told you that?
When someone uses three different cores, no wonder that the two others don´t match the first one. It is a basic rule of logic.

This core really appears on crosses marked Fr, but it is [Fr] without dot, not Friedländer´s [Fr.].
Plus, on these crosses, not only core is Hansen, but frame as well - not Friedländer one.
Plus plus, this Fr-without-dot maker used also "standard" (most typical) Hansen core, which connects him more with Hansen family than with Friedländer.
