Pickelhaube is for GR 5,6,10,11 and 12.

Only GR 5, 10 and 11 have cyphered shoulder boards.

Based on the outline of the cypher I would bet on GR 10 (FWR II) but can not be 100% sure as the pic is a bit too unclear but IMO GR10 is a better fit than GR 5 (FR I) or 11 (FR II).

Correct. His ribbon bar....he got the the Hohenzollern as a neck order later on...

Not quite sure what you mean. Prior to WWI all troops had regimental colours not branch colours as became the case (at least according to regulations) sometime during WWI.

GR10 = yellow

GR being infantry later on got a uniform white underlay for infantry (white was also the infantry branch colour during WWII). Sometimes regiments retained a piping in the previous regimental colour.
