Zähringer Löwen Knights Cross with oakleavess

    Hi guys!

Imperial stuff is not my cup of tea, I got this Zähringer Löwen that I am going to sell.

Since I don´t know much about these I post it here before putting it out for sale.

Is this Knights Cross 1st class with oak leaves or what? The ribbon doesn´t look right?

    Any input appriciated.

Yes, you have the Baden Order of the Zähringer Lion, Commander class in silver throat award with oak leaves. The ribbon doesn't "look right" because you are probably used to seeing thicker yellow stripes.

          Hi,

I belive, this is rather Ritterkreuz (Knight Cross) 2nd Class.

          greetings
          Tomasz

Are you sure? Cross is silver vergoldet so it would make it a 1st class according to the regulations. But the gold finish has lifted through the years, but you can still see reamains it if you look.

The same effect can be seen on this RK version.

                    All:

This is a OZL Knight's Cross 2nd Class with Oak-leaves. The body of the cross is silver. The center surround is gold. The Oak-leaves are of an earlier type and are made of gold. The ribbon is a modern replacement.

                    Best regards,

Interesting. Do you feel the oaks and cross belong together ?

Sometimes it is not easy to distinguish. But the gliding on these orders was thick and doesn't gone so easy. I suppose, that is is rather goldish patina on silver as remains of glidig.

Please look at this one, it is 2nd Class, but the front looks as of the 1st Cass (swords were glided in both Casses, also the central surround of the medaillon).

                          Hi!

In my opinion there's absolutely no way that would be 1st class - clear 2nd class for my eyes.

Yes. They absolutely do belong together.
