Did German stormtrooper units have their own distinctive badges, or was that something only the Austrians did?

There were only a couple of German units that had official distinctive insignia. There was no general insignia for all storm troops. On the other hand, there were numerous unofficial patches and badges being worn. These varied from unit to unit. Storm units appeared at many levels of the German army from those assigned on an army to those designated within a regiment.
