          Hi Jarek,
          Daniel is correct. This is a common fake that was in wide circulation
          about 10 years ago. It is known as the "small crown fake" or the
          "stepped core fake" . If you do a forum seach for one of those
          terms you will find several threads discussing them.

                      Now I understand why the cross was covered like a rash of rust. Rust, which easily adhered to the fingers and was easily removed by rubbing with a soft cotton cloth. It was not true rust
