    Can anyone identify this device?

The one in the upper left hand corner that looks somewhat like a pipe. Any ideas based on factual knowledge?

It would be helpful to see what the display says.

However based on its location in the display, I would guess it has something to do with grenades. It looks like a partial WW1 hairbrush grenade. That is just a guess.

Not sure, but it might be a boobytrap that would hold a grenade and activated by a tripwire.

I think it's a hand granade, based on the display group but not only that. The cover and explosive filling is missing. These kind of grenades are often called "racket granade". In WW1, many millions of hand grenades were produced and spent, hence shortage of most elaborated products exacerbated need for all kinds of improvisations. Such grenades could be produced in local workshops from makeshift materials. This one appears to be wooden handle (in racket shape), easily made by any carpenter, a metal tin, which would be filled with explosive and some kind of fuse/ignition sistem. It could be "enhanced" with nails, cut wire or other things. Crude but useful in trench warfare. I've seen several of similar design, but can't find a pic at the moment.

Thanks for the replies. I came to the same conclusion after looking at many similar in design, although not the same.
