    Wilhelm II signed Promotion Patent

My latest find, which I'm quite thrilled with as I finally scored the Kaiser’s autograph. This is a 1908-dated promotion patent for one Leo Heinrich to I believe the rank of Hauptmann in the 14th (3rd Pomeranian) Infantry Regiment "Graf Schwerin", signed by Kaiser Wilhelm II.

    Very nice
Although the Emperor Wilhelm II was very hard-working in this area - and signed personally very many documents, like officer patents or awarding certificates of orders (at least until WW1)

    greetings

I always enjoy seeing commissions such as your. Here is a little information on Hptm. Heinrich:

Leo Heinrich was born 28.04.1872 in Stettin

He entered the army on 09.03.1891 in IR 51 and was promoted Lt. on 17.05.1892. He served in IR 51 until his transfer to IR 14 on 18.08.1900. He was promoted to captain and company commander on 18.11.1907, though temporarily without a commission. As your document shows, he received his commission on 27.01.1908. On 22.03.1910 he was placed "zur Disposition" and transferred to Landwehr Bezirk Aurich, where he was in 1914 when the war began. He was given the "Charakter" as a Major on 27.01.1915.

Thank you so much for the additional information! I really love to hear the story behind these documents. I will be sure to place this information with the document so that the story stays together with the piece.
