    Prussian general honor decoration

    Hi everyone,
My OEK book lists the Prussian general honor decoration as a civil decoration but I see it in some military medal bars. Was this decoration awarded to military personnel in peacetime for meritorious service?

If you know more, please share.

    Thanks.

" recipients were lower and mid-level officials and officers".

My understanding is yes, to "lower and mid-level" military officers, and also to "lower and mid-level officials", i.e. probably mostly government workers for long service and to others as well (possibly minor Royals.)

You have to keep in mind that many civil employees / officials were also reserve solidiers/reserve officers who participated in military campaigns so these "reserve" medal bars often combine civil service and war decorations. Of course, many once active officers/NCO's switched their careers into civil service and added civilian decorations to their previous military ones.
