    Hi
    Recently obtained a small group to a soldier in Schallmesstrupp 19
    Searched on google but am not really sure what they did?
    Can anyone help

    Im Januar 1916 wurden 51 Schallmesstrupps aufgestellt, die mit an verteilten Geländepunkten aufgestellten Mikrofonen die Abschussdetonation feindlicher Geschütze aufgezeichneten und zeitlich präzise abglichen. Bei Kriegsende bestanden 110 Schallmesstrupps.

    In January 1916 the German Army started with 51 "Schallmesstrupps". They distributed in different points/positions in the area microphones to record the sound/noise of the enemy canons
    to locate their exact position.

    At the end of WW1 110 Schallmesstrupps had been installed.

      Schmallmessung-Kompanie or sound measuring troops (distance to bang) were used to support counter battery fires. M15 pattern straps for Artillerie-Messformationen (artillery survey units) were introduced beginning in April 1917. I believe SM straps use began In November 1917.
