    Imperial newbie questions.

    Hi Guys,

    Any tricks of the trade used to differentiate between the M and IVI maker marks. Is the M simply an IVI that has been more deeply struck?

    Same with the Z and N. They look a lot alike although I think I see the Z as being more elongated and a narrower profile when looked at from the side. That does appear to separate them but if someone could perhaps confirm the point regarding the narrow profile for the Z it would help.

    Yes indeed it is. IVI is not a mark I know.

            Follow-up question if I may please.

            The examples shown above, and others I've seen in old threads, all show the maker mark stamped in line with the length of the ring. Is that standard practise with these two (referring only to N&Z) makers?
