        Hi Charles,

there are some nice auction houses in Germany for postcards. Otherwise I browse over plenty of flew markets.

        Best regards

        Daniel

          Von der Golzt Pascha

          Hi Daniel,

I am a little bit intrigued with the portrait of the Generalfeldmarschall. He appears to be wearing the uniform a regimental "Chef" but I don't recognise those plain blue cuffs. Von der Goltz was à la suite then Chef of Infanterie-Regiment Generalfeldmarschall von Boyen (5.Ostpreußisches) Nr. 41 respectively which had red Brandenburg cuffs with white piping Any ideas?

Here is a wartime colour postcard of Generalfeldmarschall August von Mackensen

          Regards
          Glenn

            Hi Glenn,

dont ask me about this special uniform details. I´m not at all good in that.

Here is the later GFM Kluck from the same postcard series:

            Best regards

            Daniel

P.S. Your Mackensen pic is nice! Rare to see this guys wearing a old style ribbon bar on portraits.

              Kluck

              Daniel,

this one is easier: He is wearing the uniform of Grenadier-Regiment König Friedrich Wilhelm I. (2. Ostpreußisches) Nr. 3 of which he was à la suite. He did however retire as a Generaloberst.

              Best regards
              Glenn

                uuupps!

You are right, Kluck didnt make GFM.

Here is one of my favourites. General von Gilgenhelmb is wearing 3 classes of the Red Eagle Order; the 4th class with swords, the 3rd class woth crown, bow and swords on the ring and the Grand cross with oak leaves and swords on the ring. He was not only a brave soldier, he had also the Prussian livesaving medal.

                Best regards

                Daniel
