The medals were made of silvered bronze, many of them have small inscription BRONZ nar the left lowe edge.

Thanks! I suppose they're casted, as otherwise I would have said zinc because of the bubbles.

Not all medals have bubbles. I suppose, the for the later issued pieces was used a silver wash of poor quality. Or may be some of they were made of zinc, too? The medal was established in 1929, but awarded until 1947. It is often to see in German medal bars.
