    Imperial patriotic plate

Posting for posterity, am moving it on soon.

Jaw dropping plate, workmanship is incredible. I am thinking the "1914-1916" hints it is a wartime memorial.
Received a rough translation "The birds in the forest, they sing so beautifully, In the Homeland... In the Homeland, we will meet again" Which probably hints at a Valhalla reunion with a fallen warrior.

Just wanted to post it as I have never seen another like it, is about 11.25" across and made out of what I assume to be plaster or some plaster hybrid.

I think the lines of the inscription are lyrics from the "Wiederseh'n Marsch".

This is the chorus from the German marching song "Die Voglein im Walde" Best, Kevin.

Detail and patina on this thing is amazing, must have been made by a master plaster.
