He was the father of Wilhelm II and died of throat cancer. He was married to Princess Victoria of England who influenced Friedrich III greatly with her liberal views inherited from her father Prince Albert and mother, Queen Victoria. Had Friedrich III lived, it's unlikely that Germany would have developed as quite the military power it did under Wilhelm II and WWI may not have happened.
