Here is an interesting 1914 EK1, engraved to a UB93 Lt. Ludwig. The UB93 Went out on patrol twice, and was sunk on the third one. I've seen the Eagle M stamp on a couple of un-engraved crosses like this several years ago. There are 3 Lt. Ludwigs listed on the ranklists, but none are listed with a K. The core on this one is defintely a stamped one and not cast.

Sorry Doug but that cross is fake.
KAG never marked their 1st class crosses that way. Plus the core details, especially
the font for the date and the style of crown is something that we just started seeing
a few years ago. I'll try to find a thread about these.Comment

I should have remembered that because I knew about the fake with the Marine mark. That's what happens when the years and hard life catch up to you. At least I paid about 1/3 of what some dealers charge for engraved crosses.Originally posted by gregM View Post

Thanks Greg. The M mark is actually a sort of waffenamt mainly applied to weapons. The stamp die was probably left over from someone making ordinary Lugers into Marine Lugers.Comment
