    German aviation badges?

Does anyone know what these are? Are they imperial aviation related? Many thanx, regards Jacques

Anyone, I know nothing about this era and would not know where to start? J

These look most like the Maat naval rank patches but I have not seen one with the propeller. Try posting in the KM uniform and insignia forum. They will know if these ever existed. The cloth backed one is TR style while the pin back has the Imperial crown. The pin back looks to be made of brass but it is stamped 800 for being silver. The mark below it is one I have never seen as a makers mark. I hope they turn out to be something rare.

The First picture shows a patch for an Flugzeugmaat. An navy aviation rank for ground personal.

The "enamel" in the first piece looks like it has bubbles in it. It's doesn't appear to be the right color. I've seen two other examples, and the backing and markings on this one don't look like what I would expect.

Could there be more than one color for the prop to denote different jobs? Second pin looks old.

The cloth backed arm badge looks convincing to me but the pin back is almost certainly a copy/fake. There was a time a few years ago when these would turn up very frequently either with no marks or a bogus Meybauer mark. Ferg

Could be the result of "testing"-pricks with a hot needle: Real enamel would not be affected but a plastic surrogate would melt - the big one looks even slightly burned at the edges.
Could hint towards a repair attempt - some of the red stuff is missing again, anyway...

Thanx guys, very interesting. There seems to be some mystery around these. J
