Hello, need help with this portepe, it shlould be legit, but I have to be sure. Thanks all for help

The Austrian knot looks original from the photographs with proper wear. But... pull the vertical cords on the ball apart with your fingernails and look at the thread wrapping underneath the twisted cords. This thread is generally waste thread and can be grey or odd colors but should show appropriate age. Also, look closely under the criss-crossed cords on the stem and see what that yellow material behind the cords is. If it is metal or paper or cloth it would be correct. If plastic or some later material it is a reproduction.
