    hessian presentation sword

    Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone could help me out regarding a Hessian Infantry officers sword. The sword is the lion head with basket type hilt by WKC. The part that I would like to find out some information on is the person the sword was presented to. Its from the officers of the 5th grossherzloglich-hessisches infantrie reg, 168, to a Major Schotte. The dates on the blade are from 1897 to 1913. I think it was maybe a retirement gift but not sure. If anyone could maybe look in a ranklist or would have any info on the unit it would really be appreciated.

    Thanks everyone, Bubi

    bubi,

In the 1911 Rang=Liste there is a Hauptmann Schotte in the 168th IR.. In the Ehren Rangliste (1914-18) there is a Hauptmann (Major aD) Schotte in the Gendarmerie-Brigade in Elsaß-Lothringen.

    Regards,
    Chip
