Soldier statue wearing Auer gas mask

Purchased this interesting statue yesterday. A gift from the Auer Com pany to the Norwegian Military Attache in Berlin in 20's to the 30's.
    Take a look.

Yes, looks Reichswehr - with M24 gasmask.

Was Auer a gas mask manufacturer. Very unusual piece, congrats.

The industrial firm Auergesellschaft was founded in 1892 as the The Deutsche Gasglühlicht AG (Degea, German Gas Light Company), with headquarters in Berlin. Up to the end of World War II, Auergesellschaft had research activities in the areas of gas mantles, luminescence, rare earths, radioactivity, and uranium and thorium compounds.

So, given they specialized in gas research, it seems likely they made gas masks.

It's quite a beautifully made sculpture, IMO.

With an eagle on the belt buckle sort of makes me think it's a 3rd Reich figure

                          No, it's a Reichswehr buckle.
