    By the time WW1 started in 1914, this one year volunteer could have been an established officer in the regular line force or an officer of the reserve. He would have been called up and in action by 1915 if not 1914. He would be lucky to survive.

    It always pays to research the name on an Imperial stein. Sometimes it can be amazing who some of these guys were in WW2 and what they did. I have seen some remarkable finds in that regard,

      Hello Chris,

      I would be interested in researching this guy but were to start? I know some people use an international account on Ancestry.com. Would that be your preferred method?
