    1870 Godet EK1 w/hooks

    Opinions?
    1) It has the untapered, sharpened pin of the repros shown on the pinned fakes thread.
    2) The GODET logo appears crudely drawn. It doesn't match an original I have in hand, nor does it match the one in Iron Time on page 111. The entire cross is vastly different than a side hook Godet in my collection.
    3) It looks a lot like the repro shown in the pinned Imperial Fakes thread, with a different maker mark. BUT...the crown has more relief than that one.

In all fairness, the seller Steve is an ordnance collector only. He and I have been having a very civil and constructive email discussion about it. IF this one is not original, I believe he's not trying to pass it off. It may be a consignment piece. He also backs his items and has been around for a while.

I don't claim to be an expert. For what it's worth, it MAY be authentic, and I hate to judge based only on photos, but personally, I wouldn't buy it at the price of an original.

Complete repro, if you ask me.

No good. Not even close to an original Godet. Sorry.
