    Hello Peter,

I am sorry but that cross is not definitely a contamporary item.
I disbelieve also that it has been made a few years after 1813.
My confirmedness is that is a modern copy or better a very bad fake.

      Not for me...

Hi Peter, I don't think either of his 1813 crosses are legit... his 1870/71 Frauen & Jungdfrauen Kreuz looks fine, but $1350 is high for the condition shown, IMO.

It appears to be missing the primary ingredient to be a 1813, a stepped core. Also appears in the picture that the loops are a little to big for an 1813.

Such loops I have never seen and do not known either.
Please have a look at the very variably outcuts on the arms in the middle of the cross and consider the variably width of the frame.

Thanks guys. I guees it looks a bit "Latvian". I dont like it either. The rings at the reverse do look wrong.

            Cheers.

Take a look at these. 1813 iron cross and two pour le merites.

              The 1813 iron cross

eBay item 6508944578 (Ends Feb-06-05 15:29:37 PST) - Imperial German 1813 Iron Cross 1st Class - No Reserve

              The first pour le merite.

eBay item 6508942590 (Ends Feb-06-05 15:19:23 PST) - Imperial German WWI Blue Max Neck Order - No Reserve

              The second pour le merite.

eBay item 6508362121 (Ends Feb-03-05 19:04:14 PST) - PRUSSIAN POUR LE MERITE ORDER

I think they are all fakes.

Nope. Loops are too thick and doesn't appear to show the age I would expect (at least not in the photos). Also, the seller is selling an 1813 EK2 which is clearly a "muffin crown" Pieces of Feces UK-made repro. I believe these are museum display copies.

The PLM's look to be identical other than for the silver markings and maybe the finish. When were they made? Who knows. Who cares.

I think asking "WHERE ARE they made" rather than "WHEN WERE they made" would be more to the point. They are current production. I have been trying to find out who the maker is, but people like Soldat HQ who sell these as repros are not talking. I think Eastern Europe somewhere.
