Hey guys, I got Franz Joseph fever and picked up these two medals in the last week, neither are anything special. I think the ribbon on the jubilee cross is replaced and not even correctly replaced. Can our resident Austrian masters confirm? Anyway here are the photos. Also can anyone tell if the bravery medal is first or second class?

Ribbon on the jubilee cross is ribbon for the Commemorative Jubilee Medal for the Civil Service 1898.

Bravery medal is for second class.

Civilian version has right circumscribed
‘‘FRANC IOS. I. D. G. IMP. AUST. REX BOH. ETC. ET REX AP. HUNG.’

and armed forces version has facing right circumscribed
‘‘FRANC IOS. I. D. G. IMP. AUSTR REX BOH. ETC. AC AP REX HUNG.’

The Orders and Decorations from the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy are beautiful and in my opinion, also a fascinating field of collecting.

The 1848/1908 Jubilee Cross existed also in the version for personnel of any rank, serving at the Imperial Court: the decoration was identical, but the ribbon was the same of the Imperial Order of Leopold: red, with white side-stripes.

Exactly this cross! In this case, a fine example with polished arms.

Curiously to say, the "Court" (or Leopold Order's) ribbon is usually more expensive than the cross itself...

A few years ago, a German auction house, sold a lot of three fine, cased Jubiläums-Hofkreuze.
